What Are You Reading On Monday & Mailbox Monday

A weekly event hosted by J. Kaye’s Book Blog to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. A very slow reading week for me with nothing finished so my list is the same as last week. Too much sun and soccer to really get stuck into reading but I'm back from holidays now and I'm hoping to get heaps of reading done this week.

This Week's Reading List:

ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE by Jeaniene Frost - page 177

ALONG FOR THE RIDE by Sarah Dessen

SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater (audiobook) - chapter 24

AN ECHO IN THE BONE by Diana Gabaldon

Mailbox Monday

Thank you to Marcia at The Printed Page for hosting Mailbox Monday every week.

Just the one book in my mailbox this week. How about you?

Defenders of the Scroll by Shiraz - from the author for review.

A teenage boy.

A dark wizard.

A mystic scroll.

And the fate of a world hangs in the balance...

When Alex "the Axeman" Logan is pulled from his world to help a young princess, named Dara, save her kingdom from the Shadow Lord, he thinks there has been a mistake. He's a teen guitar player close to failing 11th grade, not some defender of the realm. All he has are some school books, his wits, and his love of fantasy movies.

Overnight his life is history. Alex must confront the Shadow Lord and his minions when he is thrust into a land that has changed from a magical paradise to a barren, hopeless, helpless realm invaded by a dark army. But Alex is not alone. He has the help of Dara, a magic scroll, and a band of unlikely companions drawn from his own history books: a hardened Roman Legionnaire, a swift Japanese Samurai, a fearless African Warrior, a fiery Amazon Archer, and a spirited Shaolin Monk.

To celebrate my 1st Blogoversary two lucky readers can take their pick from a choice of 6 books in this month's spookalicious competition. Check this blog post for details. International entrants welcome.

  9. The week before I just had one book and it was the very same one! It looks good!

  10. Boy, you really read a lot of good books. I've never read Sarah Dessen. I've heard a lot of friends talk about her. I think there was a challenge. I bet she's a good author. Have to try her.

  11. It looks as though you have an excellent line-up this week. I have Shiver on my TBRL.

    Mine is here:

  12. Happy Monday. Enjoy your reading week.

  13. I am interested in hearing more about Echo In The Bone. Have a great week!

  14. Enjoy the Diana Gabaldon book. I've only read OUTLANDER so I'm way behind.

  15. I still haven't gotten my copy of Maggie Stiefvater's book! It's with HUSH, HUSH and I think that is what the hold up is. How are you enjoying it so far?

  16. I received Defenders as well. I loved Shiver and have Along for The Ride to read. Enjoy your books.

  17. You have some great books lined up this week! I'm kind of jealous, actually ;)

    I hope you enjoy them!

  18. Echo in the Bone is on my list of books to eventually read -- I really like all of Gabaldon's books!

  19. Sounds like you have a awesome reading list in story. Anything Jeaniene Frost and Shiver are very good reads.

  20. I've heard good things about Along For The Ride!

  21. J.Kaye, I'm really enjoying Shiver but must admit I found the guy's voice on audio a little annoying to start with. Getting used to it now and the story is great so I think it would be a terrific one to read!

  22. What a great week you have ahead! I want to read every one of those books. I hope you enjoy them all!

  23. I love Jeaniene Frost!

    Have a great week! :D

  24. oh I will be reviewing defenders of the scroll too! In December actually.

My mom has the Gabaldon book but she is holding out on reading it. She knows it's going to be a long while until the next book!

  25. Then I am glad that I am getting Shiver in paper. ;)

  26. This sounds like a good one. Will have to show my middle schooler and see if he's interested.

Oh, and thanks for siccing Alaine on me. She's already been by to chew me out for my lack of reviews. Good girl that I am, I've already buckled down and written one. LOL!

  27. I've heard good things about An Echo in the Bone, I'll be interested in your review.
I first heard of defenders when Ryan @Wordsmithonia reviewed it. He loved it.
    Happy Reading!
