What Are You Reading On Monday

A weekly event hosted by J. Kaye’s Book Blog to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. A very disappointing reading week for me, all I managed was a few pages of Fire, couldn't seem to concentrate on anything.

On the medical front, I do want to keep you updated as many of you send emails/comments asking how things are going and your care and concern means a lot. Results are starting to come in, the haematolgist is sure that my youngest son and I have a platelet function disorder, (just not one that they know the name of) and probably my eldest son too, but he still requires further testing. As medical technology advances we may have a name for it but suffice to say, the boys will continue to be treated for bleeds and hopefully my mad keen soccer player will continue to do what he loves doing; talent, determination plus treatment and god willing. I'm having a hysterectomy on the 29th Dec which will take care of things in the cervical cancer department and hopefully my nose-diving iron but having a transplanted kidney and hypertension makes things a little more complicated and scary but at least we get to enjoy Christmas. And my eldest son's girlfriend has her cardiac surgical appointment this week so *phew* things are moving along. It's much easier to cope when you have answers.

I do have reviews done and scheduled for this week (I know don't fall off your chairs with the shock) so shouldn't be such a dull week on my blog and I hope to have my Dec/Jan competition up so come back and visit.

  2. Me too, I didn't read a single page. Maybe I can change that this week though. It's great that Christine's appointment is this week and I really hope she gets some answers. xoxo

  3. Wow, there is so much going on with you and your family regarding health issues! I hope that they give the platelet disorder a name so that will at least give you somewhere to start. I'll be thinking of you on the 29th...I just know everything will be fine!!! Looking forward to your fun reviews this week. Now sit back and relax a bit!!!

  10. I'm glad you're at least closer to some answers and hope that things stay controlled and easy from here on out medically!

::falls off chair and knocks head, briefly blacking out:: Wait a minute! How many reviews did you get written? Are you caught up to me again? I was feeling so smug and now you've gone and ruined it. LOL!

  11. Oh my! I didn't realise you were so poorly. I hope you and your family manage to have a peaceful Christmas, as you sound like you have had an awful year. Take it easy and don't worry about the reading. Are any of us actually getting any reading done? I haven't looked at a book since last Tuesday.

  12. I am so glad that I am not the only whose reading has been suffering. Unlike you though, my reviews have been falling by wayside as well.
Congrats on having reviews done and ready to go. Whew!

I wish you, as always, a fabulous week! I also, as always, wish you and your family good health. I hope the stress of everything is starting to calm down a bit.

  13. I'm so happy you have answers. I completely agree that it's easier to cope when you know what your dealing with. Best wishes from Jake, Gregory and I for successful treatments and surgery. We're really pulling for you. Being soccer nuts ourselves we have a special hope that your son will still get to share his talent on the field! Thanks for keeping us updated!

You read a couple of great books this week and hopefully you'll get more time to be swept away by the magic of more.

    Enjoy the holidays!

And by the way, it's never dull on your blog!

  19. Pumpkin! I'm so sorry I've been slack in reading your blog!!!! I had no idea. I have more medical knowledge than the average bear, so I know about the transplanted kidney and HTN thing. I'm sure they will monitor you closely and make sure ins/outs are all good.

As far as what your sirgery is for, I hope the pathology comes bacl clean, unless you already know. Thoughts, hugs, and prayers from across the globe.
