Lucky In Love by Jill Shalvis

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Lucky Harbour #4
Publication Date: 1st June 2012
Pages: 400
Book Source: Grand Central Publishing & NetGalley

Synopsis: Mallory Quinn has had enough of playing it safe. As a nurse and devoted daughter, she takes care of everyone but herself. And as the local good girl, she's expected to date Mr. Right. But for once, she'd like to take a risk on Mr. Wrong. And who could be more wrong than Ty Garrison? The mysterious new guy in town has made it clear that he's only passing through, which suits Mallory just fine. Besides, his lean, hard body and sexy smile will give her plenty to remember once he's gone...

For the first time in his life, Ty can't bear to leave. Helping this sexy seductress-in-training walk on the wild side is making him desire things he shouldn't -- including leaving the military for good. As their just-for-fun fling becomes something more, Mallory and Ty wonder if they could really be this lucky in love. After all...anything can happen in a town called Lucky Harbor.

Karen's Thoughts:
Whenever I am in the mood for a steamy contemporary romance I know that Jill Shalvis will deliver what I want.  I always pre-order her new releases and they move to the top of the TBR pile once they arrive in my letterbox.  Jill writes the best sexy alpha men that you’ll find hard to move on from…they are HOT HOT HOT!  The chemistry between her characters will singe your fingers as you turn the pages.

I’m a huge fan of Jill’s first three novels in the Lucky Harbour series and Sawyer from Head Over Heels (Book 3) still invades my daydreams every now and then….trust me he’s hard to forget!

The first three books in the Lucky Harbour series centred around three sisters, Maddie, Tara and Chloe, who had inherited the local run down Inn.  The next three books in this series centre around Mallory, Amy and Grace, three of Lucky Harbor’s female residents who have formed their own chocoholics club and meet in the local diner to inhale any form of chocolate they can whilst supporting each other in their dreams and goals.

Lucky in Love tells the story of Mallory Quinn and Ty Garrison (aka Mysterious Cute Guy who made a very brief appearance in previous novel).  Mallory Quinn is the local all round ‘good girl’, devoted to taking care of her family and her community.  Mallory works as an ER Nurse and is also working towards opening the town’s own Community Health Centre.  Ty Garrison is a former Navy SEAL recuperating in Lucky Harbour after a plane crash in which he sustained some serious injuries.  He is planning to head out of Lucky Harbour as soon as he receives medical clearance and is certainly not looking for a relationship to tie him to the seaside town.  Mallory is a little tired of being the town’s said ‘good girl’ and with some encouragement from Amy and Grace wants to unleash a little of her inner ‘wild side’.  Ty is the perfect man to help her out with that.

Both Ty and Mallory are carrying around heartache and guilt from events that have happened in their lives and I felt they were truly matched souls.

Plot sounds predictable doesn’t it…but somehow Jill has a way of making the story feel fresh and new.

One small disappointment for me was that we didn’t see more of the people we came to love in the first three books.  We get a glimpse but I would have liked to see a little more of Jax, Maddie, Ford, Tara, Chloe and Sawyer.  This doesn’t take anything away from the story itself.

Lucky in Love has one of the best endings to a romance novel I’ve read to date… swoon worthy!  If Lucky Harbour was an actual town I am quite certain it would be swarming with young single females seeking out these gorgeous men that seem to be running the town.  Lucky in Love is certainly contemporary romance at its finest.
