Synopsis: Nestled
on the Oregon coast is a small town of rocky beaches and rugged charm. Locals
love the land's unspoiled beauty. Developers see it as a potential gold mine.
When newcomer Hank Cooper learns he's been left an old friend's entire
beachfront property, he finds himself with a community's destiny in his
hands.
Cooper has
never been a man to settle in one place, and Thunder Point was supposed to be
just another quick stop. But Cooper finds himself getting involved with the
town. And with Sarah Dupre, a woman as complicated as she is beautiful.
With
the whole town watching for his next move, Cooper has to choose between his old
life and a place full of new possibilities. A place that just might be home.

Karen's Thoughts:
Being a huge fan of
Robyn’s Virgin River series I was very excited to see her branch out into a new
series and I'm happy to say I'm pretty sure it's going to be another winner.
In the back of my mind
I wondered briefly whether it was just going to be a re-run of the Virgin River
series in a new location and with similar characters with new names. Put
doubts aside, The Wanderer feels fresh and new.
As I find with most
first books in a series there is a lot of information to take in, getting to
know new people and the character and feel of the town.
The Wanderer is really
the story of Cooper and Susan, but there are a couple of lovely background
stories with other residents of Thunder Point. So lovely that I’m looking
forward to ‘living’ with them again some time soon.

I read this last week and enjoyed it (review will post next week). Being a big fan of Robyn Carr I had the same concern as you - but I shouldn't have. It's kind of fun to have a new setting and community of characters to meet, isn't it? Nice review!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to have a new community to get involved in Mary...glad you liked Robyn's new one too!
DeleteI have been told to read a Carr book...one day
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of them Blodeuedd...but well worth a try
DeleteWasn't this a fab read! There was a danger that this would be Virgin River mark 2 but I think it is sufficiently different, especially with the secondary relationship that I am hoping will feed into the next book!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to hanging out with these characters again Marg...such a pain to wait for the next book!
DeleteI must have been living under a rock, I haven't read anything by Robyn Carr but I'm happy to start with at the beginning of a new series ... not quite so daunting lol. Thanks for a great review Karen :)
ReplyDeleteYour very welcome!
DeleteI put off reading the Virgin River series for a long time for that reason Teddyree...I knew if I enjoyed it I would have to buy all the books!
Sounds really good. I haven't heard of this author or book before. I'm sure the writer takes you to the coast next to the characters. Great review.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nina...I love reading about small communities...I kind of feel like I've had a holiday to the US coastline!

DeleteI stiil want to read Carr and like the idea of getting in at the beginning of a series.
ReplyDeleteCertainly not as daunting as starting out with the Virgin River series...although I'm sure if you like this one you'll want to read the VR tales!
