Pâtisserie ... French for YUM!

I can pretend ;)

So the closest I've been to France is ... Nouméa the capital city of the French collectivity of New Caledonia. Via a P&O Cruise last year we had a little taste of France ... yeah I know still a long way from the France but French is the predominant language and the Pâtisserie's are ooh la la French so that counts ... doesn't it?

We didn't come across any locals in shops that spoke English so ordering with my extensive knowledge of the French language oiu, merci, bonjour complete with atrocious French accent was I'm sure most amusing for the delightful Patisserie owner. And how many of something? un, deux, trois, that's all I got, lucky we didn't want any more than 2 of anything lol.

I don't like macarons, I've tried quite a few 'recommended' ones here in Australia and they just don't do it for me but after eating the two below let me tell you ... I'm a convert :)

more pretties :)

not sure what this was but YUM

Next stop ... the real thing!! I want to pig out at a boulangerie & visit a fromagerie & buy oodles of cheese. I think I'm secretly a little bit French, have I told you lately how much I love cheese, and pastries, and chocolate, and bread, ok lets cut to the chase ... I love FOOD and I love the decidedly French way of savouring every morsel. Better do something about my fluent appalling French.

  1. Thanks for making me hungry! I haven't really had any experience with French pastries, which is obviously very sad for me. When it comes to food, the choc-peppermint macaron looks delicious-I adore mint chocolate foods and I bet I'd love that one too.

  8. I posted about New Caledonia this weekend, too, but I saw the New Caledonia exhibit at the Jardin des Plantes in Paris. As I posted, I was wondering what New Caledonia was like and if they still spoke French. Cool! Those macarons look every bit as good as the ones we had in Paris.

  13. I've just got back from France yesterday, and ate all of those amazing things and more. French cheese really is extraordinary, and the patisseries, oh my, the patisseries....I haven't been to New Caledonia yet, but would love to- all those pastry yummies are just one more enticement to go.

  14. I've had macarons before and some flavors were really good. I haven't been to France though I did study French in college. My French professor invited our very small class to her house once and made us chocolate crepes. I've had a few other French pastries and once tried escargot on a dare...never again...

I think if I went to France I'd enjoy the pastries and chocolate and bread too!
