A weekly event hosted by Sheila from Book Journey to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. I love this meme, it helps me stay on track ... well, most of the time. Thanks Sheila!
Busy week, Callum's birthday and yay we did get together for a family dinner to celebrate. I put my creative hat on and made birthday cards for my son and niece. We spent the weekend catching up with friends, eating great food, doing some rainforest walks, enjoying spectacular scenery and taking lots of photos.
#bookblogwalkers update #18: Felicia's Book Blog Walkers: I missed last week's update but did quite well and even better this week with a weekend spent walking in rainforests in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Believe me, after food like this we needed the walks. This mountain of ribs is called the King Henry :)

KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL by Anthony Bourdain (audiobook) ~ rude, crude, drugs, sex, depravity, oh and food. Not for the faint-hearted but hilarious.
THROUGH THE CRACKS by Honey Brown ~ 4.5 stars

BILLABONG BLEND by Jennifer Scoullar
ECHO IN THE BONE by Diana Gabaldon ~ chapter 4

Reviews Coming:
FOUR FRIENDS by Robyn Carr ~ loved it
SIX YEARS by Harlan Coben (audiobook) ~ good audio, not my favourite Coben
WHILE WE WERE WATCHING DOWNTON ABBEY by Wendy Wax (audiobook) ~ loved the story and the narration.
THE MIDWIFE: A MEMOIR OF BIRTH, JOY AND HARD TIMES by Sandra Worth ~ well worth the read even if you've watched the TV series Call the Midwife.
Fab cards. Wow walking in the rainforest. Do you meet things like snakes or big spiders or anything? (asks a scaredy kiwi!) Great exercise though. I sort of stopped reading Echo - so many books to read (big sigh), might get back to it before June!! If not I'll be reading the new one. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteWe had a cold snap here Kathryn, I think most of the creepy things were curled up keeping warm lol. Just a few little spiders, lots of birds and bush turkeys. Kondallila Falls walk was a bit tough, my legs were killing me haha
DeleteOh the walk sounds wonderful, perhaps I will come over some time and walk some of it. Not ALL of it. Have been to Sunshine coast but not the hinterland. Will keep it in mind.
DeleteRainforest walks sound so interesting. Must be gorgeous foliage. Looking forward to your review on the Downton Abbey book.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing week you had! Wow!
ReplyDeleteHere's my It's Monday!
Wow - that's a lot of walking you did this week...good for you!!! I love when I have a good week of walking. Last week I got my 5 days in, but nothing stellar.
ReplyDeleteI listened to the audio of The Secret Life of Bees and loved the narration! Jenna Lamia is one of the narrators in Sue Monk Kidd's latest book, The Invention of Wings - another great book and phenomenal on audio.
Have a great week!
A rainforest walk sounds really cool. I'm glad you had a good time celebrating with your family.
ReplyDeleteI loved The Secret Life of Bees and I should try listening to the audio sometime. I tend to listen to the same audio books over and over while I'm driving (mostly Harry Potter)
Have a great week!
Loveeeeeeeee the photo of you two!!! And those cards are gorgeous!! LOVING the colors!!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome birthday celebration! Great photo, too....and your walks look very scenic. I envy that....we have boring streets...LOL
ReplyDeleteBut perhaps I could shift my perspective and see something beautiful?
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

ReplyDeleteThanks for your nice comments on my foodie blog, I appreciate it. I am late getting back to my computer to visit this week.
Wow, that is a mound of ribs. Good thing you walked as much as you did! ;o). The weather is finally cooperating here to allow for extended outdoor walks. I am so happy. Gotta get Echo in the Bone on my iPod.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are gorgeous! Based on your post, I've added the Lady of Ashes series to my Goodreads list. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your homemade cards! I hope you enjoy your reads this week. I love Diana Gabaldon :)

Now those are some ribs, looks like a great party to me! :) The rainforest walks sound nice too. Curious about the Harlan Coben one...
ReplyDeleteYea for me! Did I get back to your email? Let me go check. Sometimes I read them and then they get lost in the shuffle.
