Synopsis: Wally is an Emperor Penguin from Antarctica who isn't exactly like the
other penguins. Wally is always cold. So, he takes a journey to the Galapagos
Islands in search of warm weather and discovers an amazing world of tap-dancing
crabs, racing hundred-year-old tortoises and diving birds with bright blue
feet.
Wally the Warm-Weather Penguin is a delightful rhyming book for children
aged 1 - 4. Children will love the bright and colorful illustrations of the
unique wildlife in the Galapagos Islands while the simple, rhyming text brings
these curious animals to life. Come along with Wally and visit this very
special place!
My Thoughts:
A delight to read, Wally will capture the hearts of children and
adults alike. He's an adventurous young penguin who longs to be warm and sets
off from Antarctica to the Galapagos Islands.
Beautifully written, with a fun, catchy rhyme and the illustrations
are gorgeous; colourful and eye-catching. Wally's sense of fun and adventure
will appeal to children and the child in us 'big people.'
As Wally explores the Galapagos Islands, readers are introduced
to some of the unusual creatures that make their home there. At the end of the
story is a Fascinating Facts section
about the animals which older
children and adults reading to children will also appreciate.
I adored Wally the Warm-Weather Penguin, this was a fun book to
read aloud and my granddaughter loved the bright colours. I'd love to join
Wally for more adventures ... somewhere else warm of course.

I can't remember the name of the book. But it was about this cat with 3 kids. They all got new gloves, but one of them got them dirty and was so sad. But then they washed them and ate blueberry pie :) I loved that book
ReplyDeleteI remember that one too B but the name eludes me lol.
DeleteI would have to say that my favorite children's book is "The Giving Tree" -- hands down!! Loving the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read The Giving Tree Julie but I looked it up and it sounds so sweet!!
DeleteSounds like a gorgeous read and looking at the print and words one that junior teachers would enjoy sharing as a shared book. When I was young (ha!) I loved Noddy!! Couldn't get enough. Not very PC but nobody told me! Now so many great books out there. I remember that Golden book in first comment too. Loved all those Golden books. Glad Mia enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI think you're right Kathryn, this would be perfect in a classroom setting. I'm that era too, we were brought up on Noddy, books and TV lol.
DeleteMy favorite book was Little Bear.

ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, I loved The Gingerbread Man, lol. Don't know why, but I had two different versions of the book and loved the illustrations of him with all the fancy trim.
another fan of The Giving Tree ... I'm getting a copy of it Rita.
DeleteIt's such fun to see Wally here on The Eclectic Reader (yeah!). Thanks so much for the thoughtful review and for hosting this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI hope you don't mind me jumping into this fun discussion about favorite children's books, but I haven't seen my favorite picture book mentioned yet. I adore Are You My Mother? by P. D. Eastman. I now get to read it (over and over again) to my toddler and never tire of that darling story.
I love it when author's stop by Stephanie :)
DeleteAww I actually forgot about Are You My Mother, I loved reading it to my boys. My absolute favourite children's book is Guess How Much I Love You by Sam McBratney.
I feel like I had so many! I would have to say The Story of Ferdinand, Goodnight Moon, and The Poky Little Puppy were my top three favorites as a child. :)

One of my favorite books was The Poky Little Puppy. For some reason it was always in the Christmas box of decorations. Each year it was so exciting to read it while decorating the tree.
