It's Monday! What Are You Reading? and an Update :)

A weekly event hosted by Sheila from One Persons Journey Through a World Of Books to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. Thanks Sheila :)

It's been 2 weeks since I participated in the Monday meme, I had all intention of posting last Sunday after coming home soul refreshed from scrapbook retreat at Daisy Chain Scrapbooks. However my eldest son was unfortunate enough to experience drink spiking on Sunday night and we spent most of the evening and Monday tending a violently ill Anthony who had virtually no memory of events after eating Subway. Sadly the litany of nasty side effects will be reminder enough of his night out. Talk about scary! Add to that, dental appointments, doctor's visits, soccer, an after hours vet visit for Bella leaving me $110 poorer, but satisfied that 'sick' Bella was most likely pining for Callum who just happened to be staying overnight with a mate ... *sigh* sweet Bella I'm certain is gold-plated. Enough to turn my carefully planned week into utter chaos!

Alaine and I are lucky to have found such a wonderful scrapbooking family to spend our time with and visiting Daisy Chain is something that brings me great joy. Being with like-minded creative friends, sharing our lives, laughs, sorrows, passions is both nurturing and inspiring. I did promise to share some scrapbook layouts with you so here are some I completed at retreat.

MY SOUL TO TAKE by Rachel Vincent

DRACULA IN LOVE by Karen Essex

  1. I wish I was a better scrapbooker! I love your pages! Your boys are so handsome! I really need to just sit down practice my own scrapbooking ... but there is so much more to do! Gah!

  2. Love the pages :)
And good books coming up this week

  3. I hope your son has fully recovered. That is a frightening thing to have happen. Sounds like you had quite a week!

I always enjoy seeing your scrapbooking layouts. You have a really good eye for it. My favorite is the last one.

I liked your review of Pink. The cover would have made me skip it but once I read your review, I've decided to add it to my TBR list. I am curious about the Helen Hollick book. I will be back to read your review. I just read The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley (loved it!) and on Amazon, Helen Hollick is suggested as a similar author.

  4. Scrapbooking is such a lovely hobby, but I have yet to try it.

Exit the actress is one I have my eye on.

  5. Lovely scrapbooking pages! Materials can be expensive but it's so much better to add your own personal, creative touches, isn't it? Have a great reading week :)

  6. Your scrapbook pages are just beautiful! Your scrapbooking group sounds like a lot of fun. I'm anxious to see what you have to say aobut The Tudor Secret.

I hope your son is ok, what an awful thing!

  7. Can't wait to read your review of I am the Chosen King and also what you think of Exit the Actress. Have a great week!

  8. Those scrapbook pages are gorgeous as are the photos in them. I am bit jealous of your creative skills!

  9. I love love your scrapbbooking pages....

I am still using up piture from 2009 - But the "the man himself" Tim Holtz was over here and I was fortunate enough to be at one of his workshop and I am on a creative spree at the moment..

He tends to have that effect on alot of people... LOL

    Happy reading this week hon...

I look forward to your thoughts on MY SOUL TO TAKE - I have had that one for a while now..

  10. I love the look of the Tudor Secret. I hope your son is fully recovered.
    I love scrapbooking too!

  11. Somtimes the days just get away from us, and the next you know, another week has passed. Hopr everyone is on the mend, including Princess Bella. My dog used to do the same thing but for my hubby, not me!

    The scrap layouts look beautiful and I'm gladdyou and Alaine have found a group to hang out with. There's nothing like hanging out with other scrappers or in my case knitters. Happy belated birthday also :) {shame on me}

  12. I got some more fun reading done last week. Next week will involve a lot of K to 3 books. Come see what I'm reading now.

  13. I miss scrap booking with friends. I hope your son feels better. Tudor Secret looks interesting.

  14. I love the scrapbook layouts. I haven't done any for years.
