It's Monday! What Are You Reading? And Update!

A weekly event hosted by Sheila from Book Journey to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. Thanks Sheila :)

First week of school holidays and what an eventful week:

Road trip to Tin Can Bay to visit my Dad in his new home. Dad and his new partner Annette are engaged now and hinting at a wedding some time next year. Callum took this photo of a rainbow through the front windscreen of our car; it was actually a beautiful double rainbow.

My eldest son Anthony broke a bone in his foot/ankle after jumping down off his ute on the weekend; the same ankle he had pinned & plated after a nasty spiral fracture a few years ago. He has a backslab plaster on waiting a CT scan today to see whether he's also torn the ligament from the bone :(

It will be my baby daughter Taleah's 21st birthday this friday and the anniversary of her death on Saturday. I've been feeling quite overwhelmed with emotion, I guess reminders of Mum's passing also bring sadness to the forefront and while I count my blessings with my gorgeous boys, my heart aches for all that could have been with my daughter.

  1. The death of a child is so sad - my thoughts and prayers that you will be comforted by those around you at this time. Her birth and death anniversary has to be hard on you. God Bless.

  2. I need to give you a hug ((hug))) right now...I'm thinking of you during this difficult time!

  3. I've never suffered the loss of a child, I can only imagine the pain. I lost my father when I was 8, so I do know how those losess never seem to leave you. I will be keeping you in my thoughts during this time and I hope your son has a speedy recovery.

Thank you once again for the giveaway and I'll be looking forward to reading No One To Hear You Scream. I'm not sure what info you need from me, just let me know.

  4. Fingers crossed that everything will be ok with Ant and as always will be thinking of you on Friday/Saturday. Special birthdays are always more difficult, at least I find they are! xoxo

  5. I hope your son gets well soon. I am really sorry to hear about your daughter - my thoughts and prayers will be with you and your family.

  6. Oh no! Sorry to hear about his foot :/ I hope he gets better soon

  7. Oh, I feel very sad for you, and hope that the pain will lessen with time and memories of the good years you shared with her.

    I love your rainbow photo...

Your book about Katrina looks intriguing. Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my blog.

  8. That picture with the rainbow is beautiful. I love rainbows, they make me happy. ;)

  9. What a beautiful rainbow you were blessed to experience. I understand that pain of loss and may you be surrounded by comfort and joy on those days.

  10. Beautiful rainbow photo. I cannot manage to get one when I see a rainbow.

Ouch for your son! Ligament damage takes a long time to heal.

Thinking of you at this time of sad memories.

  11. I do hope your son is feeling better and for you (hugs). I hope the week brings some healing. Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous rainbow photo. I hope you find some escape in your books.
    My Monday:

  12. My reading list consists of a lot of picture books read with my children, as well as the manga I've been reading with my oldest. Come see what I read.

  13. {{Hugs}} for the painful memories you will have towards the end of this week. These are things you never get over. You honor Taleah by remembering her.

As for Anthongy that stinks quite a bit and I hope it's broken bones and no ligament injury. My thoughts are with him.
And with you all as well.

  14. Happy thoughts and hugs coming your way. Feeling sad is necessary, but only so it can make you appreciate all that you have. Sounds like you are doing exactly that.
    Good luck with the injury!
