It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

A weekly event hosted by Sheila from Book Journey to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. I love this meme, it helps me stay on track ... well, most of the time. Thanks Sheila!

Wanted to share a photo of one of the beautiful roses from my garden. If I'm lucky there's usually a rose or two still blooming for Taleah's remembrance day. The angels are smiling ... love you always and forever baby girl.

When you're stressed and things aren't going smoothly, do you feel like blogging's just another chore, one you could do without? I guess that's where I'm at right now. I know I  just need to hang in there, well I think I know lol because I really would miss all my bloggy friends and this wonderful book community. I've got review commitments and to be honest it's the last thing I feel like doing. This year I'll have been blogging for 5 years, I've felt like this before and regained my enthusiasm so it'll happen again ... won't it??

  1. I know what you mean about blogging slumps, and wow five years? That's awesome! I try to only blog when I feel like it - it's not my job, and I also really want this to be fun. However, sometimes, I click on too many books on Netgalley, and then I know I have to review them sooner or later (or mostly sooner, actually)

Your rose is absolutely stunning! The petals are perfect.

I look forward to reading your review of Legend, as it is on my TBR as well, and just the title of Dancing with the Devil makes me want to read it...

Here's my It's Monday! post for this week. Happy reading.

  2. Gorgeous rose! I think most bloggers experience similar feelings - especially the longer you've been blogging. I know I have - and I started just over five years ago. I may take a week or two off soon. I've noticed a few bloggers do that. Like Lexxie Lin said - it's not a job. Have a good week!

  3. What a lovely rose, and what a wonderful (additional) way to remember Taleah.

Yes, reading and blogging can feel like a chore (or even a job!) sometimes. When that happens for me, I try to pick books I have been wanting to read (or reread) and cut back on accepting review books. I've definitely cut back on blog tours. I never did that many anyway, but I'd find myself stressed when the deadlines approached.

Enjoy your week! Here's MY MONDAY READING POST

  5. I think we all feel that way at some point - that writing the reviews and getting blog posts up are chores we'd rather not have to do. When I start feeling that way, I just take a break. It may be for a few days or it might be for a week or so...as long as it takes until I find joy in working on my blog. Afterall, this is a hobby and if it feels like work, than it's no longer a hobby.

I hope you find your joy in blogging again soon. I would definitely miss you if you stopped completely.

    Here's my It's Monday post.

Have a great week! (And by the way - wasn't Looking for Me so good!!!)

  6. Stress works differently for each person. When I'm stressed I find myself reading more. I hope things get better for you. My Monday Report is here. Happy reading!

  7. I do like the mix of genres but Jodi Picoult is now far too stressful for me!

  8. Oh those roses are beautiful! I know what you mean about not wanting to blog. I had some reviews to write that I just did not want to. I made myself power through but I wonder if it might have been better to just do mini-reviews or to not even write anything at all. I mean, do I want to post inferior content?

  9. Ah.. We all have those bouts when blogging bogs us down further than we already are. I think when it comes to the point when you are no longer enjoying it, as opposed to just not having the motivation/drive, that's when it's time to reevaluate. I do hope you are able to move on from this bout as you have done before, you will be sorely missed otherwise!

  10. You are not alone in your feelings. Take a break if you need it! With home renovations and wedding preparation, I have no energy for the blog, but know it will be there when I return. Gorgeous flower. We were fortunate to have a couple of roses for our son's rememberance day too.

  11. I think we all hit slumps like that, get what you have to done then take a break. That's what I do. I cut way back this summer, to focus on what I wanted to do. Take care and beautiful rose.

  12. Whew, 5 years is AMAZING! I think a slump is understandable. You might need to take a break, but don't you do disappearing forever! ;)

    Have a nice week :)

  13. Yes you will. Five years is a long time.

Take a bit of a break, and then come on back.

I would definitely miss blogging and my blogger friends.

    Enjoy your week.

  15. Hang in there! When blogging gets to be too much I just back it off a bit and post less frequently - 2-3 times a week, then when I'm in a better place for blogging I pick it up again. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing thing... but I would certainly miss you if you were to stop!

I hope you have a great week and find a book that lifts your spirits! <3

  16. Sometimes blogging does feel like just one more responsibility, but the friends and community can offer solace and encouragement in trying times. Hugs to you.
