Guenevere The Queen of the Summer Country by Rosalind Miles

Queen of the Summer Country (Guenevere) My Rating: 4 stars
Read: June 2008

For a fan of the Arthurian legends it is a delight to find yet another perspective of this much told tale. I think Rosalind Miles showed a stroke of genius telling this epic almost entirely from Guenevere's point of view.

Guenevere's early life, Guenevere and Arthur's marriage, the growth of their kingdom, the conflict with the Christians and Guenevere's love affair with Lancelot. Guenevere is portrayed as a much stronger, more likeable character, while Morgaine La Fey and Merlin are at their most malevolent in this novel.

The first in a trilogy that brings to life the magical world of Camelot and Guenevere's life, loves and tragedies. I'm looking forward to reading more from Rosalind Miles with The Knight of the Sacred Lake & The Child of the Holy Grail

Recommended for: lovers of the Arthurian legends
