Woohoo Another Challenge Finished

Thanks to J.Kaye of J.Kaye's Book Blog for this fabulous challenge which really pushed me out of my comfort zone and into some new-to-me sub-genre's. I didn't think this one would be much of a challenge as I love suspense/thrilllers but since I usually stick to tried and true favourites and this challenge required the participant to read 12 suspense/thriller novels from 12 different sub-genres, it was actually more difficult to complete than I thought it would be.

My favourites of the challenge - The Surgeon, Frantic, Loving Natalee & Once Upon a Nightmare.

What I learnt -  I'll definitely be reading more from the True Crime sub-genre (thanks Yvette from True Crime Book Reviews for recommendations) and I think I'll pass on the cozy mysteries.

Thanks again J.Kaye, your challenges ROCK!!

This is what I completed: (click on titles to see reviews)

THIS PEN FOR HIRE by Laura Levine (Cozy mystery)

ONCE UPON A NGHTMARE by Lee Moylan (Horror thriller)

THE DARKEST HOUR by Katherine Howell (Inverted suspense/thriller)

LOVING NATALEE by Beth Holloway (True Crime)

THE KEEPSAKE by Tess Gerritsen (Forensic mystery)

FRANTIC by Katherine Howell (Crime suspense/thriller)

HARDCASE by Dan Simmons (Hardboiled suspense/thriller)

WHITE LIES by Jayne Ann Krentz (Romantic suspense/thriller)

THE CHAMELEON'S SHADOW by Minette Walters  (Psychological thriller)

THE DARKEST EVENING OF THE YEAR by Dean Koontz (Supernatural thriller)

AT THE STROKE OF MADNESS  by Alex Kava (Serial killer thriller)

THE SURGEON by Tess Gerritsen (Medical thriller)

To celebrate my 1st Blogoversary two lucky readers can take their pick from a choice of 6 books in this month's spookalicious competition. Check this blog post for details. International entrants welcome.

  2. That is FANTASTIC! Congratulations!! So did the challenge change your feelings about thrillers or confirm what you already felt?

  3. Gosh! I will act like I didn't read this post. That it didn't remind me of me joining this challenge at all.
And that I am no where near completing at all.

  4. I am starring this post to come back to. I've only recently began reading some thrillers/suspense but would like to check out more. I've stumbled upon and LOVE Tana French and read one book of Harlan Coban that I enjoyed.

Thanks for putting all of the reviews in one page!

    Cheers!

  5. Sharon ~ thanks, it was fun

J.Kaye ~ More confirmation, I've always loved thrillers, but I didn't realise there were so many sub-genre's. I still like my tried and true crime/psychological/medical thrillers the best but I'm so glad I tried a few new ones, some that I'll read more of and some I won't LOL

Veens ~ you crack me up, get movin' you still have time, its not the 31st Dec yet!! LOL

  6. Christina ~ J.Kaye is running this challenge again next year if you're interested.

I've actually collected all of Harlan Coban's books and read them all except his latest, great choice!!

  7. It's fun to see the different sub sections. I know most of those authors but have never really thought about the types of mysteries they write.

I just got done reading Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. I guess that one would be psychological suspense/thriller?

    Congrats!

  9. Well done Sheree! I see you've only got 9 books to go to finish the 100+ Reading Challenge as well. I also saw on Goodreads that yo've almost finished another book. Are you going to review it straight away (yes I'm nagging)?
