Rescue My Heart by Jill Shalvis

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Animal Magnetism #3
Publication Date: 6th November 2012
Pages: 304
Book Source: Berkley & NetGalley

Synopsis: After a tragic stint in the National Guards, Adam Connelly returns to Idaho and to Belle Haven, the animal shelter he owns with his brothers. All Adam wants is to be alone. Then he opens the door to the past—the woman whose heart he once broke. Still gorgeous, still tough-as-nails, but this time, unusually vulnerable.

Holly Reid learned the hard way to never depend on a man for anything. Now, of all men, it’s the last one she wants to see, and the only one she needs. Her father has gone missing in the Bitterroot Mountains and she could use someone with tracking skills to help find him.

For Holly and Adam, each with their ghosts, a trek this desperate, this unpredictable, and this intimate, will have its share of risks—including opening their hearts one more time.

My Thoughts:
Jill Shalvis heroes are the crème de la crème of heroes; mouth-watering, drool-worthy, off-the-scale sexy alpha males and Adam Connelly is no exception. He's ex-military, still suffering with PTSD, a search and rescue specialist and a hot, hunky, dog whisperer with a vulnerability that makes you want to hug him. His 4 legged friend Milo just happens to be super cute too.

Feisty, stubborn Holly was Adam's teenage love, watching these two re-connect was so much fun. Of course you know you're going to get a HEA, but the getting there is chock full of smiley moments, trademark funny dialogue, heat and chemistry and I just love the  razzing between brothers Adam, Brady & Dell.

"I've seen him look much worse," Dell said. "Like last year, when I signed him up for this online dating thing. He got all scared. He was pretty pale then."

"Because I was stalked," Adam said. "By a crazy person."

... "She broke in and tried to convince me to marry her. With a taser. You always leave that part out."

and just one more favourite quote:

Then he not so gently pushed Holly up against the truck and kissed her, slipping a hand beneath her shirt at her waist, trailing his fingers along her spine.

When she no longer remembered what she'd even gone to the store to buy, he lifted his head and gave her a steady gaze.

"Okay," she said shakily, still gripping his arms. "You're good. You should wrap that up and sell it."

"It wouldn't be fair to the other candy."

I was busting to read this one, Jill Shalvis is without doubt the Queen of Feel-Good but the top of my Jill Shalvis fave list is still the first book in the series, Animal Magnetism!

Holly's brother Griffin & her best friend Kate get their own story which has me just a wee bit excited as I'm really not ready to say goodbye to this series. Book 4 Rumour Has It will be out August 1st 2013.

Jill writes the funniest blog and posts plenty of eye candy on her facebook page. Seriously, if you're in need of a Monday morning pick-me-up ... visit!!

Check out my reviews for the first two books in the series -
