A weekly event hosted by Sheila from Book Journey to discuss your reading week ~ the books you've read and those you plan on reading in the coming week. I love this meme, it helps me stay on track ... well, most of the time. Thanks Sheila!
Feeling rather fragile, we have a lot going on on the home front and Sunday was 5 years since my mum passed away from Melanoma. 5 years ... such a long time, we've missed her dearly for the many milestones in the boys' lives since finishing school ... but in some ways it still feels like yesterday. I miss her so very much.
Mike's mother is having surgery for a Cochlear implant on Tuesday, we're excited and a little anxious for her. And Thursday is ANZAC Day, our national remembrance day for those fallen in military operations. Might watch the 1981 Aussie film, Gallipoli, again ;)

It's been months since I've done any scrapbooking so it was nice to finally make a few cards. I have more birthday cards to make in the next 2 weeks so now that the creative juices are (almost) flowing, I'd better nurse them along lol.

You have my sympathy. It is a year for my brother and mother in law passing and it has been such a hard year. We are stil grieving and trying to get passed. It has affected so many parts of my life including reading.
ReplyDeleteLots of series I have considered, enjoy.
Thinking of you as you remember your mom. the pain of losing a parent is especially difficult.

ReplyDeleteWalking Disaster is already in my TBR pile, so I refuse to read more reviews of it until after I've read it, lol. Hope you enjoy this week's selection!
ReplyDeleteThose anniversaries are always emotionally devastating, aren't they? Sending good thoughts your way.
ReplyDeleteI always love your scrapbooking samples....
I'm off to check out some reviews...and here's MY MONDAY MEMES POST
Love your scrapbook pages-I'm working on my own project and I find your craftiness very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading Knots and Crosses and started Haunted Grounds.
ReplyDeleteI haven't lost any parents yet - but I've gone through losses due to cancer and heart disease of aunts, grandparents and family friends. And my cousin had a 'fight with breast cancer' about 9 years ago (time flies) and came through it. I think we were especially lucky because she had a stage four that ended up just beginning to spread when they had the surgery. So far she's been healthy after a mastectomy, chemo and radiation and after care. She's had reconstruction surgery and at one point was entertaining the idea of tattooing some sort of flower or sunburst pattern where her nipple was. I should find out if she ever went through it or not - after the whole thing they ended up moving to another state.
ReplyDeleteSo I understand how fragile you must feel and how lots of events are tinged with the non-physical presence of your mom. She'll always be in your heart. It's no completely the same, but it's something to hold on to.
The scrapbooking looks great - I love when people can take random items and make art out of them. Much respect to artists and creators. :)
The cards you made are absolutely beautiful. I hope your spirits are lifted soon. Great books on your list. I have been reluctant to start any books that are a part of a series by the Vincent books have my interest piqued. Have a great week! Thanks for visiting me @ The Key to the Gate.
ReplyDeleteRebecca
