Linking up with Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer and It's Monday! What are You Reading? now hosted by Kathryn @Book Date.
On the home front:
Where did the week go? I ended up with a bug and lost my voice but thankfully I'm on the improve. What I didn't do this week was read but lookie lookie I posted three book reviews *happy dance* ... #yayme
My dad stayed a few days, it was lovely to spend the time with him and he was chuffed to see his great granddaughter so much. We had heatwave weather here and spent a lot of time in the pool.
Today we had the final working bee for the year at the community garden. I really love having fresh veggies to share and it's such a nice group of people to garden with. We share recipes and gardening tips and help each other out.

I'm surprised I was 20% over target for the week since I was wasn't feeling so great but it's been scorching hot and extra watering in the garden meant extra walks. Gotta thank Anthony, Christine & my gorgeous granddaughter for helping me out.

Awww... is that your dad in the pic? How lovely he got to spend time with his great grand-daughter. All of my grandparents had died years and years before my niece was born, which was kinda sad....
ReplyDeleteyes that's my dad Deb. My mum and dad were very close to my boys so it's lovely that Dad gets to spend time with Mia. It is sad when all your grandparents are gone, we still get sad that mum's not here to have fun with her great granddaughter ...
DeleteGlad you are feeling better!! LOVING that photo of the two of them!! So precious!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletereally sweet Dad got to spend some quality time with her.
DeleteI hope you continue to feel better this week. Glad you are enjoying some warmer weather and a visit from your dad. Love the picture of him and Mia! That is so precious!
ReplyDeleteIt is cold here and my heater decided to quit working. My apartment maintenance is supposed to be coming in a few hours to take a look at it. Thankfully I have plans with friends to go see Mockingjay this afternoon so I can warm up at the theater!
Good for you for exercising even when you weren't feeling well. I got in a couple of days but not as much as I'd hoped.
Thanks Christina. oh that's great timing with the heater... typical isn't it lol, hope it's fixed today. Hope you love Mockingjay 2, I can't wait to see it.
DeleteWhat a lovely picture of your dad and your granddaughter! My mother's parents are still alive and I'm so happy that my kids have such a good relationship with them. It's extra special somehow.
ReplyDeleteYour reading list for this week looks lovely as do the tasty looking vegetables. I'm already missing fresh tomatoes! Have a great week!
I'm with you Katherine, it's something extra special. Those tomatoes were so good ... just saying lol. it's exciting to actually get a good crop of vegetables.
DeleteIt's nice that you got to visit with your father. I am jealous of your beautiful veggies and the heat wave. I would LOVE a heat wave.
ReplyDeletelol and I am wishing for a bucket of snow ;)
DeleteLooks like good times in the pool! That's nice when grandparents and grandkids can spend time together. :) Glad your weather is nice- we have snow. :(
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katherine, I'm missing fresh tomatoes. Have a great week, and enjoy your reads!
Eek snow, it's hard to imagine when we're melting in the heat lol. Stay warm and we'll try and stay cool. tomatoes were delicious, wish they'd grow faster.
DeleteLovely to have time with your dad. Wish it was warm enough here for the pool! Have a good week.
ReplyDeletewe are so lucky to have the pool, we spend a lot of time in it!
DeleteI love your community garden and wish we had something similar. We have farmer's markets so I can get locally grown and I grow some on my upper patio away from all the chems folks spray on their lawns but space is limited. Have fun with your Dad and um stay cool?
ReplyDeletethanks Kimberly. I love the farmer's markets too, next best thing if you can't grow your own. Nice and handy to have a few veges or herbs or even fruit trees on your patio, I love that!
DeleteLove the photo of Mia and your dad...great grandchildren are the best! I don't have any actual ones, but I have some step-grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteThose veggies are gorgeous!
Enjoy your week...and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
my great grandparents were gone before I was born. it's really special for children to have grandparents and great grandparents ...
DeleteI can only im agine how hot it must be
ReplyDeleteuggh but at least we have the pool :)
DeleteYou did well with the walking in spite of the weather and being off colour. The garden is obviously coming along, I love the idea of a community garden.
ReplyDeleteJust as well you have the pool to keep cool, I guess most Brisbane homes have them. Really beautiful pic. My niece and her Aussie hubby just put one into their home on the Gold Coast. ( And she adds to the Aussie population next month so expect she uses it a lot at the moment.)
Nice to be about to read Come Full Circle, exciting that she is finishing her trilogy. Massive writing task.
Nice work with the reviews even if you weren't able to read that much, your time will come!
we are in an older area of Brisbane, so not too many have pools but I'm so glad we put one in, so much fun family time spent around our pool. Oh yes I imagine your niece would be making good use of it in this heat, tough being late pregnancy in summer too.
DeleteSo excited about Come Full Circle, it'll be out some time in December so not too long to wait! I'm only 30% in but enjoying it so far :)
Glad you are feeling better. I find my step count is way up with I am around Cole! Looks like Great Grandpa and Mia had a great time in the pool. Does she like getting her face wet? I miss fresh from the garden produce! Enjoy the lovely weather.
ReplyDeleteoh yes, Mia is an absolute fish and no fear which can be a bit scary too.
DeleteSo nice you had a visit with your dad - and warm weather. Hope that cold goes away. I can't believe the whole year has flown by. The veggies look good too.
ReplyDeleteInfinite Sea is looking really good to me. Happy Reading!
Thanks Martha, I seriously can't believe how fast the year has gone. I'm not too far in to Along the Infinite Sea, but enjoying it so far :)
DeleteThat is a great picture of your dad with Mia. The weather looks great and it's finally cooling down here in California. The vegetables look really good and it sounds like a fun group you belong to. I'm not a gardener but it would be nice to learn some tips. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love gardening but there's so much I'm learning, things I'll do differently next time around. It's been a lot of fun. Have a great week too Kathy!
DeleteAww, love the photo of your dad and granddaughter! The fresh veggies look great, too. I miss eating them straight from the garden during the winter, but thankfully we will be in Florida for a good part of it. The farmers market there is the best!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're feeling better. Hope you enjoy the new Beatriz Williams... A Hundred Summers was one of my favorites a couple of years ago.
Thanks JoAnn, I love farmers markets too, the next best thing to growing your own. I have A Hundred Summers on my kindle, not sure why I never got around to reading it but good to know it was a fave.
DeleteLovely to have family come visit.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy Beatriz Williams's book as much as I did.
Thanks Mystica, so far so good :)
DeleteI'm glad you're feeling better! Great job on steps, even not feeling great! Such a sweet picture. I had to scrape frost off my car windows this morning - I'm missing the heat a little bit today! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
brrr I don't miss that lol. It's not common in Brisbane winter to get frosts so you would probably laugh at our 'winter' ;)
DeleteAh, what a cute picture! It's always nice to spent time with family, especially those we don't get to see all that often.
ReplyDeleteSend me your weather please!! I'm happy with the chilly weather here in the UK, when I'm indoors! We ventured outside this morning to go to toddlers dance class and my gosh, I just about froze!!
Whilst you didn't get to read, it sounds like you were having plenty of fun! Also, yay for getting reviews up! I hope you enjoy your upcoming reads.
Reading With Jade
lol yes we don't get what you would call 'winter' here in Brisbane but then our summers you can practically cook an egg on your head!!
DeleteI tried gardening this year without success; I'll start earlier next year. I miss those homegrown tomatoes my mom used to grow.
ReplyDeleteah yes, you can't beat homegrown tomatoes ... hope you have better luck next year!
DeleteAdorable photo. So sweet of your dad to visit.
ReplyDeleteLove the veggies too.
I loved Along the Infinite Sea. I hope you enjoy it too.
Have a great week.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Dad doesn't often stay more than a night so was fun to have him here for a few days. I'm enjoying Along the Infinite Sea so far :)
DeleteI'm glad you are feeling better. I too would love to have your weather. Our winter has just begun and I'm tired of it already. This is what I read last week. Happy reading!
ReplyDeletenot sure I could handle your winter either, we start complaining it's cold when it's under 10 degrees C lol but this summer is a scorcher! I could do with a bucket of snow to stick my head in :)
DeleteAlong the Infinite Sea is a great title for a novel - thanks for sharing your thoughts about it as well - looks like you had a great week with your father - beautiful photo! Hope you have a more productive reading week this time around with the Thanksgiving holiday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Myra, no holiday for us, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia, as much as I wish lol. Thanks for visiting :)
DeleteGreat job on your week. Hope you feel and stay better!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen, up for some challenges this week :)
