It's Sunday/Monday: Check-In Time

Linking up with Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer and It's Monday! What are You Reading? now hosted by Kathryn @Book Date

On the home front:
It has been as hot as hades here this week, scary to think what summer is going to be like.

This week I went to my granddaughter's swimming lesson, looked after my youngest son's cat for the first time and Callum and his girlfriend came for dinner. Bella wasn't impressed having a cat in her space but she's always happy to get some loving from Mia.

Also saw The Dressmaker with my lovely friend Sherryl, we both laughed ourselves silly (Judy Davis was a hoot) and a few tears fell. Was great to catch up. The final book in Sherryl Caulfield's Iceberg trilogy will be out some time in December.

And hallelujah the photo albums I gave my boys for their 21sts are finally finished ... my back feels like it's broken but it's great to be able to see the bedroom floor again. They started off with photos from birth to the start of school but the last few months I've been topping up their albums as I find more photos and scan more. They now have photos til the end of primary school. Thank goodness for the digital age, scanning photos is mind-numbing.

#FitReaders Weekly Check-In

#FitReaders co-hosted by Felicia @ Geeky Bloggers Book Blog and Jen @ That’s What I’m Talking AboutFitReaders is a great way to stay motivated, accountable and it's more fun having bloggy friends to check in with. If you also have a fitbit and want to add me, let me know :)

This week, I upped my daily step goal slightly from 8000 to 8500. Jen and Felicia's Thanksgiving #strutyourstuff Walk and a Fitbit Goal Day Challenge was just the motivation I needed to move my butt in the heat, but it was tough!

    1. We've had temps in the mid 30's but it's the humidity that gets you ... 90% + humidity feels like you're permanently in a sauna

  4. I'll take just enough of your heat to warm it up here without making it too cold there. :) We hit 20's last night brr so the novelty of the cooler weather is wearing off a bit LOL.

Your new books look nice. Have a fantastic week!

  5. Wow you rocked it with the steps in spite of the heat. Don't know how you do it with those kind of temps you been having. I have been out already today because the sun is hot and about 21, and that is hot enough!!
Must look out for The Dressmaker here and go see.
Will be looking forward to your review of Come Full Circle.
Nice to finally see the floor and feel you are achieving something with the photos.
Mia and cat story - adorable.

  6. I took some of my mom's old photo albums for a project for their 40th anniversary back in February. I finished the project but haven't returned the albums because I want to scan the pictures. Too bad I never seem to have time for that! She's going to march out here and get them one day, I know. Enjoy your week!

  7. It looks as if Mia is very gentle with Bella which is great. I have a friend with a 4yr old and he's a bit rough with her cats!

I haven't seen The Dressmaker - heard mixed reviews though. I read the book ages ago and think I struggled with it!

  8. The Dressmaker looks really interesting. Hope the cat sitting went well and I'm glad you were able to work on your photo albums. Sounds like quite an undertaking.

I didn't get much exercise in this week and I definitely overdid it on the pie and chocolate at my parents' house. Thankfully my sister brought some Paleo pumpkin pie bars to Thanksgiving so that was marginally healthy :) I need to get back to walking this week.

I'll take some of that heat! It is getting colder here though we haven't had any snow yet thankfully.

    Have a great week!

  22. My husband and I recently scanned all our photos. I agree it is a mind-numbing job, but so very satisfactory when you finish.

We have had hot weather in Victoria lately, but we don't get the humidity that you do, thank goodness.

The Dressmaker looks good - the book and the film.

  23. Organizing photos is one heck of a challenge! Kudos to you on preserving those memories. It's wonderful to have them. Your granddaughter is a sweetie. How fun to watcher her swim. Swimming is such a life skill. I'm glad my girls are water babies like me.
